It’s the position (posture) of our bodies that causes various conditions like arthritis, back pain, headaches, scoliosis, and stenosis. Once your body is out of alignment, you can’t just start exercising because the misalignments are habitual.

First, you must straighten your posture. If you try to exercise first, you will reinforce the misalignments and eventually you will get injured. It won’t matter if your exercise preference is walking, triathlon, basketball, Football, bodybuilding, golf, tennis, or any other. You must bring your body back into alignment if you want to train efficiently and be pain free.

Postural alignment is the cornerstone of bodily function.

To function properly and efficiently, the body depends on the proper alignment of all four pairs of the load-bearing joints. Postural alignment is important to any form; it allows your optimal performance when exercising.

I learned that posture affects how you walk, run, jump, lift weights and execute other skills. Because of its many benefits, such as ease of movement, good balance of muscle strength and flexibility, proper positioning of the spine and proper functioning of internal organs, your body feels good and you therefore feel good!

Significance of Good Posture

Good posture places you in an alignment where stress is properly distributed to the intended muscles and ligaments. As a result, the muscles are allowed to work efficiently and as intended, which in turn decreases wear and tear that your joints undergo. This decreases your risk of joint discomfort and degenerative arthritis. Stress placed on the ligaments holding the joints in your spine together is also decreased with good posture. When your muscles, joints and ligaments are working as intended, your vital organs are able to remain in proper position and the nervous system is able to function normally.
